sunday tours and every first friday

The Abundance Foundation sponsors free tours of the Plant every Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. and the first Friday of every month at 10:00 a.m.  Come out and if you have questions, shoot us an email @ wow@theabundancefoundation.org.  If you have a large group, please let us know!

The Plant is home to about a dozen like-minded businesses which are rooted in the green economy.  It is the home of Eastern Carolina Organics, which distributes millions of dollars of organic produce to fancy restaurants and grocery stores throughout the region.  Take a walk through Screech’s hydroponic greenhouse operation, and see Piedmont Biofarm, which specializes in the development of bio-regionally appropriate seeds.  See Piedmont Biofuels, North Carolina’s premier biodiesel manufacturer, along with our bio-diversity project, our constructed wetland, and our solar double cropping prototype. Carolina Wormcastings and Green Door Builders are in the complex as well.  Whether your interest is science, sustainability, or local economy, we guarantee that a tour of the plant will leave you thinking differently about the way industry inhabits this garden planet.

Bring the kids, or bring the in-laws when they are in town when you are looking for an interesting way to spend part of  the day.  Tours last about 1 hour, and there is always plenty of time afterward for questions and answers.
