About the Author

In mid June, 2007, Trace Ramsey embarked on a 100 mile diet project in Wilmington, NC. Through various methods of scavenging, trading, fermenting and preserving, he aimed to expand the goals of the diet as well as bring other folks in on what he discovered about his foodshed. Cricket Bread started as a way to document this project and has now evolved into a “local life” blog.

Trace lives in Silk Hope, NC with his partner Kristin. He works for Eastern Carolina Organics and is actively engaged in supporting local and organic farms through his work and personal life.

Trace has been involved with community gardening, Community Supported Agriculture, Food Not Bombs, housing collectives, bike recycleries, Really Really Free Markets, and just about every radical DIY project you can think of. Trace loves to dumpster dive, so let him know if you are going; he is a digger and not a surface snob.

Trace recently finished his first book, an anthology of his zine Quitter. His book is handmade, a continuation of the DIY ideology he tries to inspire in others.
