Why the Unstoppable Forces of Democracy Will Win the Fight Against Climate Change
Half of the world’s population is under the age of 25. Women, and girls in particular, are especially vulnerable to the impact of climate change. A flat world, enabled by instantaneous global communication and facilitated by human and electronic social networks, is creating an unstoppable rise of democratic desires. De-centralized power, both political, intellectual, and in the forms of energy we use, make it harder for established ideologies to hold power and suppress people. Climate change demands a response for all players in society: businesses, governments (yes, even the US!), civil society, and youth are all mobilizing to respond to the crisis that rising global temperature is causing. Don’t let the media’s shallow reporting of the Copenhagen climate talks get you down – COP15 was a historic success and I’ll tell you why in 6 minutes and 40 seconds!

Ecological Pharmacology: Insight into the Medicinal Value of Local Food
Throughout the millenia humans have had a history of recurrent interactions with their local ecological systems, which has created an interwoven nature between the human organism and its environment. In such a relationship there is always an exchange of information from both the environment to the human and the human to the environment. One such information exchange occurs on the level of food consumption interacting with the biochemistry and physiology of the human and thus influencing the overall health and well-being of the human organism.

The Local Land for Local Food
Land is a Commonwealth that has been commodified. As western industrial culture continues its overconsumption of Earth’s bounty, the climate gets weirder, and our population soars toward 8 billion by 2025, the stakes for control of land are getting higher. Some communities are winners, while many are losers. Innovative examples from around the country show us that communities can achieve food security by securing land as a Commonwealth.
