Bob Armantrout with shiitake mushroom logAbout the instructor

Bob Armantrout loves mushrooms and after having an earth shaking dream about them, decided to get more involved in growing them.  In 2007, Bob enrolled in one of mushroom guru, Paul Stamets’ seminars and began plugging logs with mycelium.  He has since learned to cultivate his own mycelium using a pressure cooker, petri dishes and temperature controlled incubators.

Bob teaches at Central Carolina Community College as Coordinator of the Biofuels program. He also instructs in both the Sustainable Agriculture and Sustainability Technology Programs.  He supports building personal and community resilience in all its forms, from renewable energy to growing food.
