About the Instructor
Karen prefers “food geek” over the term “foodie”. She started young…in 4-H at the age of 9. In High School she had the good fortune of having a 4-H leader that was a doctor at the local Army hospital, so she got to know people from all over the world.
Every Saturday, Karen’s 4-H group would visit a different home and learn about the culture and food of another country. These experiences turned food into an adventure and cemented her interest in the art of cooking.
Karen culinary approach is creative and innovative. Her education in chemistry and project management served to bring a level of playful investigation to her food adventures. She is a natural teacher who loves passing on the secrets of making great food and creating wonderful meals that nourish the body and are a joy to prepare.
