women’s introduction to solar technology and renewable energy

Join us for a women’s only class in celebration of International Women’s Day with Rebekah Hren, photovoltaic designer, installer, instructor, author, and licensed NC electrical contractor.

During this half day technical introduction to solar technology, we’ll discuss renewable energy in general, and solar (photovoltaic) electricity in particular. We will also tour two small photovoltaic systems, and discuss potential careers in renewable energy.

While not a “hands-on” class, you’ll leave feeling comfortable with the basic components and varieties of photovoltaic systems.

This class is taught in cooperation with Solar Energy International’s women’s program.

About the Instructor

Rebekah HrenRebekah Hren is a North Carolina licensed electrician and NABCEP certified PV installer. She currently works designing large ground mounted solar arrays with o2 Energies. Rebekah has taught solar electric design and installation classes for organizations including Solar Energy International, Appalachian State University, and the NC Solar Center.

She and her husband, Stephen are coauthors of a book on renewable energy titled “The Carbon-Free Home – Remodeling Projects to Help Kick the Fossil-Fuel Habit.” They are both actively involved with renewable energy, natural building, and edible urban gardening, and are busy working on a second book, a solar buyers guide.
